Healthier Fried Tilapia

I decided to document one of my air fryer moments again.  But this time,  I cooked fish.  Check out these pics…

For some reason, I wanted to cook live tilapia!
For some reason, I wanted to cook live tilapia.  At the same time, I wanted to teach my daughter about fish. Where they come from,  how it’s caught, till how it ends up on our dinner table.  She even wanted a close up view of how they kill the fish but I din’t expose her to that anymore.
Had the fish cleaned and when I got home, I started to season it with salt, McCormick spices (c/o of sister) and some lemon.

But one fish, I only put salt and lemon. This was for the kids.

for the grown-ups, it was seasoned more.

seasoned with these..
seasoned with these little spices
Thought of adding veggies...eggplant was the only thing I had that would match tilapia.

First set of fish. The lighter one was for the kids.
After 10 minutes in the air fryer, I put some basil.

Don't forget to wash them before throwing them in!

Used a timer so wherever I went, I'd be reminded of what I was cooking no matter how much the kids distracted me.

And here's the 1st batch!

Another angle. Put some gold fish crackers and marshmallows to make it appetizing for the kids :-)

Time for the 2nd batch with much more spices.

Here it is..
Here it is…yikes!  The fish was cut too much hence the splitting portion 😦
2nd batch!
But it wasn’t all that bad.  Important thing is that it tasted good right?  Tried to save the appearance by adding lemon to cover the big gap 🙂  Eggplant tasted good too!

Served it to my husband without telling him it was cooked using the air fryer.  He has this psychological thing that if it’s cooked in the air fryer, it’s not as yummy/tasty.  And so he ate it, and said fish tastes good.  He liked the eggplant too but some were burned..tee hee!   While he was half-way through dinner, that’s when I told him I cooked it in the air fryer..of course he couldn’t argue anymore 🙂

And so I proved him wrong…YIPEEE!  Air fryer cooked food does taste as good as being cooked in a pan!  This means more air fried dinners to come!  Trying to live healthier.  I’ll air fry everything but just don’t take away our chips and chocolates! Hehehe…

I bought the air fryer a year ago for the kids.  They loved french fries and fried chicken so much.  This was a healthier alternative I told myself.  And it is a good investment I must say.  We’ve cooked different things here like chips, fish, meat, veggies.  We will try baking soon 🙂
