Every time I’d watch shows like Madam Secretary, Scandal, American President, etc. with a setting in the White House, it makes me wonder what it (The White House) really looks like in person. So on a trip to the East Coast, we passed by D.C. …
If you’re there just like us to get in, see the two landmarks, then head out right away, you must know what stops to take in the Metro.

As we got off the Metro, we headed over to the Washington Monument. If you like riding a bike, you can rent some on the street. We got off the Smithsonian stop and walked around 10 minutes to get to the Monument. Here’s what we saw along the way.

And we’re finally here after a LONG walk. You can take the bus, tourist pedicab, taxi, or walk for 20 minutes (which we didn’t know was that far).
When I saw it, I’m like “this is it!???” I was expecting it to be more grand in real life. It seemed so tiny behind that fence. I guess the trees blocking it didn’t help. Actually, you could also see a good view of the Monument for picture taking from the White House. So after taking some snaps, we headed back to the metro out of the city.
If you have more time to spare (unfortunately, we didn’t), there are more things to do like museums, shopping, etc. Check this link to know more about getting around Washington D.C.
Here’s a map of the place to give you an idea where the metro is in relation to these two landmarks.

If you’re going to D.C, do your research first so you don’t waste time. Enjoy!
